This is one of all the Eids I have celebrated in my Village. Well it starts from yesterday when I came all the way from Lahore to my Village on my cousin's car with Bhabhi and Mom. After offering Maghrib Prayer I was really waiting that Maulvi announces in Masjid that it's tomorrow but it just started to take too long, even time came for Ishah Prayer and I remembered how 3 years ago Maulvi even started Taraviz and then they came to know it's Eid tomorrow. Well not to wait more like a nerd I went to fields at night with an old friend. The breeze was just beautiful and it was more lovely because of the darkness there. We were just talking blahs to pass time and he received message 'It's Eid tomorrow', well Maulvi just finished Azaan that time and thankfully this time sooner he knew and announced.

Well it was Chand Raat and lights in the small area just looks beautiful with small community living it's like you are in a separate place in this world. Every person wishing each other with bundles of smiles and happiness. The music started playing as loudest as they could. Well then we six, seven guys sat and started talking this and that,it really was fun. Not to add more people in village sleep so early so it was a miracle that at 10 they said we are sleepy and went to their respective houses, well I was not early sleeping person so I watched couple of movies and went to bed.

It was early morning, it quickly went at roof, pure and clean wind blowing with birds chirping and quiet and pleasant atmosphere,it was a wow feeling. Then it was time to take bath, water is village is like it's directly flowing from Antarctica. I was really freezing when I came out. Eid Namaz was supposed to be in A Government School,it was quite big and it was great seeing almost all number of villagers coming there. Well by time Namaz ended and it was time to wish each other Eid Mubarak by hugging and shaking hands. Then went to graveyard to do Fatiha Khwani for Dada,Nana and Nani. Thankfully I still have precious blessing of my Dadi with me and is always praying and doing dua's for me.

Well then came to village to eat some delicious items, passed time with cousins and friends, had some sleep and then stood with them again for chats. Well I said to cousin 'Dude not the same Eid that used to be' He 'Aaah man you are saying me that for last three years now' Maybe it's because we are not anymore the kids now or really not the same that used to be. Well because many of funny lads went abroad and even I was waiting for my another cousin. I am sure that when he comes tomorrow we will go on long rides to far villages. It's really fun with half dozen bikes with three guys on each going for long rides at fastest speeds and there are tube wells where we take bath and enjoy a lot.We have planned to do that too tomorrow if it's Allah's wish.

Well I just came back after performing Maghrib Prayer in my Chacho's Masjid and He is Imam there. Now going out trying to add some more in it and trying to enjoy more.I hope so.

I truly enjoyed yoour article about "EID". Although I know very little of your culture and celebrations, the article was informative. As a christian (American) I found your EID not to different than the holidays I celebrate. The content is good and your use of the expressive metaphore was well placed. Good work. It would be interesting to write a comparrative paralell to your article with an American twist. mark 2011-11-13 14:48:15 134
